THE SILENCE OF GOD

Lately, I have been so desperate to hear the small voice of God as to what is the best option for me, which road to take in life  and the more I pray and fast, the deeper the silence becomes. and I just had to chance on the video of a preacher called Apostle Joshua Selman who once said "learn to wait and focus on you when God is silent." In his teaching, he revealed there are times God can be silent as far as revealing His will and destiny over our lives are concerned and there are many people in the season of silence of God. 

You may pray, fast and do everything but it looks like you're not hearing Him.  In this series I'd be talking about 3 things we need to know when God is silent.

1. He is working on you. 

That is the first and foremost thing. Every time God is silent and withholds revealing His will to you it could mean you as the vessel that would be used to do His will there is a work that He is doing in you  and revealing His will to you will be a waste  in that state  and so His silence means that you should continue the training of the building up He is doing  until He makes you the vessel that is able to do that will you want Him to reveal. We tend to ask; "God why are you being silent on me, my family, my situation, my destiny?  The sign that He is silent the message that He is making a vessel who He will use to achieve His way. God was silent on Jesus for 30 years. We don't hear Jesus communicating with God as a small child yet He was God.  From the time God spoke around His birth, we don't hear any discussion again; we don't hear the word of God over Jesus' issues for 30 years.

Every time God is silent, focus on you, not Him. He is doing something in that vessel. Jesus was in the temple at age 12 because as powerful as Jesus is, even though He was God incarnate, at that stage He will not be able to fulfill the will of  God. He needed to learn and grow. It says in Luke 2:52  Jesus increased in wisdom and stature and in favour with God and man. Don't waste your moments of silence. When God is silent, rather than lamenting in impatience, focus on allowing Him build you. Most people don't focus on God making them they just focus on God revealing His will. Every time God reveals His will there is a version that will fulfill that will and if you have not become that version, He will withhold  His speakings and focus on your training. Powerful insight; isn't it? Let's take Joseph for example, from being sold by His brothers through the temptations of Potiphar's wife. He did not complain throughout.

Know that in your confusion , God is still leading you. How to know God is leading? Take for instance; God wants you to go a particular way(lets say left) to get to your destiny  and in all sincerity and honesty  of heart, believing in Him and you move right He will remove the door from the right and bring it to the left to male sure you do not miss His will. . That is how determined God is; believe this about God. Most of us don't know how powerful God is. Have you read the scripture all things work together for the good to them(not everybody) that love the Lord. So anytime you don't understand your life, ask yourself;" do I love the Lord?'' If your love is still in place, find rest. Trouble  only starts when challenges steal away your love then you are in trouble. Let's look at how how trouble followed Joseph's life from the well to being sold  to being the head of the prisoners and Potiphar's  wife with her own issues just right when he was about to find rest.

Beware when God appears to you and tells you you are  highly favoured because sometimes  what follows that statement is controversy. Take Mary for instance, when God told her she was highly favoured and she became pregnant ; how was she to explain she was pregnant yet a virgin and instead of God to speak and defend her, He was quiet?  Learn how to speak in the silence of God. Joseph went to prison and even in His confusion and pain was still in the will of God. During his stay in prison he interpreted two people's dreams and upon one's release, pleaded with him to tell Portiphar he wanted to get out of prison because he was innocent but  the man forgot all about him. Imagine you being Joseph after becoming a prime minister. I am very sure  you will firstly deal with the man then afterwards deal with Portiphar's wife but one thing you should know is when the will of God is manifest in your life, there battles that become unnecessary. You have already won.  Even when you enter the season of     His voice, you'll not know you are that close. When God is speaking to end your season, He doesn't come as a still small voice; when it has to do with bringing your season to an end He comes majestically, He will do  things that it will be impossible to doubt that He is the one that came through. When the Lord turned again the captivity of Zion we were like them that dream. While you are waiting don't be regretting what you are doing, know that it is already in the plan; the compensation is in the plan. Patience is powerful because it can help you to be able to gather together the kind of compassion you need through your pain so that you will sustain certain results when they come. When certain destiny things  come too easy, there is no  memory of pain and you will be careless over many great things.
