OPPORTUNITIES IN RELATIONSHIPS

UNDERSTANDING THE WORLD OF MEN

Hey my lovelies, I had the opportunity to listen to a powerful sermon by Apostle Joshua Selman on relationships, and I believe it’s something worth sharing with everyone who can take the time to read it. This message carries deep insights that can truly transform how we relate with others.

The sermon emphasizes the importance of understanding the world of men. Woe betide anyone who does not understand men. Apostle Selman teaches that wealth is stored in men. Our lifting and increase in life are not dependent on God alone—but also on men. You may know God, but if you don’t understand how to relate with people, you will remain small. Therefore, we must understand people and the systems that govern growth among men.

He outlined three dimensions of understanding men:

1. The System of Protocol:- Every environment has its own protocol—its own expected behavior. Understanding and adapting to these expectations is essential. For example, you can’t attend a job interview dressed like you’re going to a movie theatre. You can’t submit a million-dollar proposal in torn jeans and say, “I’m just being a free thinker.” That’s not wisdom. “Appearance is deceitful acceptance.” You minimise unnecessary controversy when you appear well. Protocol is about more than dress—it’s about diplomacy, wisdom, and honor. Sometimes, you’ll find yourself around great men who are not saved, or who speak rudely. Just keep quiet and let them bless you.  You don’t always have to speak your mind. Even Jesus remained silent at times. (Matthew 27:11-14) Diplomacy is not compromise. Sometimes, instead of asking directly, you honor someone in a way that communicates your request. Adaptation is the proof of honor—it’s not about losing your values, but about presenting them with wisdom and timing.

2. Gaining Mastery Over Words:- (Proverbs 16:24, Proverbs 18:20)

Words are powerful. They don’t just communicate thoughts; they create perceptions. If you want to master men, you must master words. Otherwise, your good may be spoken of as evil.  Words are important to great men who have developed their minds to be philosophical and analyse words.

Even God calls Himself The Word. That’s how powerful words are. The difference between poverty and prosperity is often in words—not just confessions, but everyday conversations. One word, spoken rightly, can open doors worth millions. One wrong word can close them. This isn’t about speaking perfect grammar—it’s about using words to create the right impression, perception, and memory. Your words can carry you where your feet can’t. Have your words ever brought you wealth? Opened doors? Or have they closed opportunities? Some people lose favor simply because they do not know how to greet or honor people verbally.

There’s a reason we hire MCs for weddings or events—it’s because they’ve mastered the use of words. Some people can win favor simply by how they speak. You can influence people, build relationships, and even attract destiny helpers by the way you use words. Words can work like keys—or like chains. They can bless or bind. Some people speak well but communicate poorly. You don’t sell by intention, there’s a science to communication. Learn to speak with humility. What are you proud of if you don’t yet have what you’re looking for? Greatness is the result of many small but powerful principles. Mastering words is one of them. Sometimes, the wisest thing to say—is nothing at all.

3. Understanding the Power of Endorsements:- You will never rise beyond a certain level until a credible voice endorses you. Endorsements are powerful. You may not have direct access to important gates in life—but someone else does. Value the people who already have access. You might not trust a stranger, but if someone you trust endorses them, you’re more likely to give them a chance. That’s how powerful endorsement is. Jesus was not just baptized by John, he was also endorsed. John said, “Behold the Lamb of God.” That endorsement carried weight. Some people struggle and pray for breakthrough while an angel hovers, waiting for a man to partner with God’s will and help them. But without the right human connection, the help doesn’t manifest. Endorsements are built through honor and memorable interactions. Leave a lasting impression that compels people to remember you with kindness. Plant yourself in the hearts of people, not through manipulation, but through genuine love, humility, and value. When people think of whom to help—let your name come to mind. That’s how to remain lifted. That’s how to stay relevant. That’s how to never go down.

This message is a deep well of wisdom for those who desire growth in relationships, influence, and purpose. I hope it blesses you the way it blessed me.
