PINK FOR AFRICA

 ANNUAL FUNDRAISING EVENT

The conception of Pink for Africa (PFA) in 2010 by a Breast Cancer survivor who saw the need to help women financially and raise awareness of Breast Cancer after a journalist asked her, if she had never lived in America, would she be alive today?  It has been the goal of Juliette, the founder of PFA who is in her 14th year of remission from cancer, to empower African women through the importance of early detection and to help eradicate the stigma of Breast Cancer among women, especially African women who never had the opportunity she had.

PFA has educated almost a million people from schools, churches, universities, and corporate organisations as well as radio and television stations. Every year, Pink for Africa organises an annual tea party event where auctions are done, and proceeds of that, as well as one-quarter of proceeds from Juls Bags Collection, go into the Pink for Africa account and some portion of the money is used to purchase breast prosthetics to be given to women who have undergone mastectomies and the rest donated to the following hospitals which include, Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, and the Ho Teaching Hospital for women who cannot afford their early diagnostic tests and cancer treatment.

The goal is to raise 30,000 US Dollars or more every year to be able to help more women with their treatment out there since breast Cancer is more imminent in women living in Africa. We would also like to put up a shelter for women who travel all the way from the other regions to Accra to seek treatment and no have no place for shelter. It is really an eyesore when you go to these hospitals, especially Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital and you see people laying on floors and benches just because they traveled from far to seek treatment and are stranded. Achieving this cannot be done without your help and would like to entreat anyone reading this, being empathic enough, to kindly donate and help us achieve this and put a smile on the faces of these women.

Thanks to all our readily available donors who see the need and always make it a point to support us, we can be able to help quite a number of women, but we can do better if we can get as many hands-on board by appealing to the public to donate as much as they can in any little way, they feel they can help to enable us to help the women going through the disease.
